Nek was born in Sassuolo, a small town in the province of Modena. He started his career at a very young age. In 1984, he formed a duo with Gianluca Vaccari that became very famous among young people. They mostly used to play at graduation parties, birthdays and many other events. In 1992 he released his first album as a soloist, but it wasn't until 1996 that he achieved international fame.
